Founded in 1839, the University of Missouri (“Mizzou”, “MU”) is a major, comprehensive research university. Mizzou has a diverse enrollment with 35,000 students from every state in the U.S. and more than 120 countries. The teaching method at Mizzou, the “Missouri Method,” calls for students to learn through direct involvement in faculty research, internship, practicum, and service. MU has formal agreements with more than 200 universities and government agencies around the world, and is one of the top 10 universities in the U.S. for sending students abroad on exchange, research, and internship programs. Mizzou is one of only 62 universities to be granted membership in the Association of American Universities (AAU) which recognizes top-tier institutions for outstanding teaching and research endeavors. The University of Missouri’s internationally recognized programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Business, Engineering, and Journalism contribute to the Mizzou’s consistent top-tier rankings as one of the 100 best universities.
