University of the Month – LeTourneau University
LeTourneau University (LETU) was founded in 1946 by world famous industrialist and inventor, Mr. R.G. LeTourneau. LETU’s main campus is located in Longview, Texas; about two hours east of Dallas. In addition to the main campus, our School of Aeronautical Science’s Abbott Aviation Center is located at the East Texas Regional Airport. The Abbott Aviation Center is filled with state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, and a hanger housing a fleet of 13 aircraft. LETU’s student population represents all 50 states and over 32 foreign countries. More than 85 competitive academic programs are offered within its six schools with programs in engineering, aeronautical science, business, nursing, arts & science, and teacher education.
LeTourneau University’s incoming class of freshman students in Fall 2012 and Fall 2013 was second only to Rice University in average ACT or SAT scores in the state of Texas. This is not surprising considering that graduates from LETU have an employment rate near 90% immediately after graduation. All of LeTourneau University’s programs are accredited by SACS. All of LeTourneau University’s Engineering programs are accredited by ABET and all of LeTourneau University’s Aeronautical Programs are accredited by the FAA. U.S. News & World Report ranks LeTourneau University 27th among all universities in its category of “Best Regional Universities in the Western Region” for 2014, and 5th among schools in Texas.
Study at LeTourneau University and be part of 67 years of pride, accomplishment, and ingenuity.
