The annual GAC License Holder’s Summit looks back at 15 years of the Global Assessment Certificate™ program in China
April 14th and 15th, Changsha: The 15th GAC Summit was successfully held over two days at the Intercontinental in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, where three GAC centers are located. The event marked the GAC’s 15th anniversary and attracted more than 130 participants, mainly GAC license holders and center staff from all over China.
Distinguished guests included Jacqueline Krain, Vice President of International Markets, ACT, Inc.; Jamie Dragon, Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan; Bowen Shen, China Representative, Abilene Christian University along with Principals and Directors of Studies from GAC centers across China.
The Summit’s panel discussion was led by AES staff members Pier He, Sales and Marketing Director in Asia, and Anne Zheng, Senior Academic Director in China alongside guests Richard Brandon, Director of Studies for the GAC at Beijing Haidian Foreign Language Shi Yan School; Nancy Yue, Principal, GAC Center at Taiyuan University of Technology; and Oliver Li, Vice Principal, Suzhou Industrial Park Foreign Language School. The lively debate included reasons for sticking with the GAC program in the long term, best practices for ensuring academic quality, and the role of the RADs in assisting GAC centers to improve academic quality.
“This year’s summit marks a significant milestone, the GAC’s 15th anniversary,” said the General Manager of ACT Education Solutions, Andrew Todd.
“Since the GAC was launched in China in 2002 I am pleased to have witnessed thousands upon of thousands of GAC graduates from around the world becoming proven successes at university, often outperforming even native English speakers. Many have continued with their studies to complete their master’s degrees and beyond; including those currently pursuing PhDs at Harvard, Princeton, Columbia and Cambridge.”
